Why Coinbase’s team-up with Amazon, Google and Stripe can turbo-charge AI agents – DL News
Coinbase has joined the x402 Foundation, a group developing a universal payment protocol for AI agents and web services. The foundation, which includes major tech firms like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and Stripe, aims to enable seamless crypto payments for AI transactions. Venture capitalists see this as highly bullish, predicting massive growth in stablecoin payments as AI agents, which can use crypto wallets but not bank accounts, become more prevalent. McKinsey forecasts the agentic payments market could reach $5 trillion by 2030. The x402 protocol is hosted under the Linux Foundation to ensure open, neutral governance.
