Live updates: Iran war; US rescues 1 of 2 crew members from fighter jet downed over Iran, sources say
Israel is considering a plan to destroy civilian infrastructure in Lebanese border towns to create a buffer zone, mimicking its actions in Gaza. An Israeli military official said the proposal, which needs political approval, aims to remove Hezbollah threats. Defence Minister Israel Katz endorsed the model. Such widespread destruction without clear military necessity violates international law. Israeli forces already hold positions up to 10km inside Lebanon. The conflict has displaced over 15% of Lebanon’s population, emptied over 80 towns, and killed more than 1,300 people.
