Google to cut app market fees, but Korean developers see only modest relief
Google is lowering its Play Store commission from 30% to a new structure: a 20% service fee plus a 5% payment processing fee. While initially seen as a 10-point cut, Korean game developers and critics argue the effective reduction is only about 5 percentage points, as the payment fee was previously included. They call the change deceptive. The move increases pressure on Apple to similarly reduce its App Store fees, which could significantly boost profitability for major mobile game companies.
