How Does Google Make Its ‘A’ Series Pixel Phones So Cheap?

The Pixel 10a, launching in 2025, continues Google’s “a” series formula: a budget-friendly phone at $500 that cuts corners on materials (plastic back), performance (older Tensor G4), and features (no telephoto, slower wireless charging) to be much cheaper than the $800 Pixel 10. It reuses components from the Pixel 9a and lacks flagship features like Magic Cue and Pixelsnap. Despite a less powerful chip and 128GB base storage, it offers solid everyday performance and a seven-year software update commitment.
