Google faces formal antitrust proceedings in South Korea over “Project Hug,” an alleged program to secure major game publishers for its Play Store while excluding rival app markets. The Korea Fair Trade Commission sent an examiner’s report to Google, citing serious abuse of dominance in the Android app market. The probe began after complaints in November 2024 by civic and gaming groups, and included reviews of litigation materials, inspections, and witness interviews.
