What we know about the suspect in shooting at White House Correspondents’ Dinner

A gunman opened fire outside the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, targeting Trump administration officials. The suspect, Cole Tomas Allen, 31, was a Caltech-educated engineer and part-time teacher from Torrance, California. Armed with a shotgun, handgun, and knives, he charged a security checkpoint. A Secret Service agent was struck but protected by a bulletproof vest. Allen was arrested at the scene and faces charges including assault on a federal officer. His motive is under investigation; authorities believe he acted alone. He traveled from Los Angeles and checked into the hotel on Friday.
