Award-winning chef charged with killing wife at UMass Amherst Campus Center Hotel
Award-winning UMass chef Jeffrey MacDonald, 36, pleaded not guilty Thursday to murdering his wife and assaulting a police officer at the UMass Campus Center hotel in Amherst. Police say he confessed to beating her to death with his hands, feet, and blunt objects. The victim, also a UMass staff member, has not been named. MacDonald was held without bail and returns to court May 12. Last August, he was named “Chef of the Year” by the American Culinary Federation.
