Google Issues Zero-Day Attack Alert For 3.5 Billion Chrome Users

Google has issued an urgent security update for Chrome to fix a new zero-day vulnerability, CVE-2026-5281, which hackers are already exploiting. This high-severity flaw, affecting the Dawn WebGPU component, could allow attackers to run arbitrary code via a malicious webpage. It’s the fourth Chrome zero-day patched this year.

The update also addresses 20 other vulnerabilities. While the patch will roll out gradually, users can install it immediately by going to Chrome’s menu (three dots) > Help > About Google Chrome, then restarting the browser.
