GOP Rep. Tony Gonzales heads to a runoff in Texas amid a new ethics probe in the House : NPR
The House Ethics Committee has launched a formal investigation into Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas) following allegations of sexual misconduct and unfair discrimination toward a former employee. This comes a day after Gonzales was forced into a May primary runoff. The probe focuses on claims he engaged in misconduct with a staffer and dispensed special favors. Gonzales has admitted to a “lapse in judgment” and says he has reconciled with his wife and sought forgiveness. The employee, Regina Santos-Aviles, died by suicide last September. The investigation could take months.
