Jimmy Lai, a 78-year-old British citizen and Hong Kong media tycoon, has been sentenced to over five years in prison. His international lawyer, Caoilfhionn Gallagher KC, condemned the trial as a “sham” and “show trial,” stating it marks a “final blow to the rule of law in Hong Kong.” She called on world leaders to demand China release Lai, calling him a “prisoner of conscience,” so he can return to his family in London.
