Google is phasing out several Android features by 2026. The biggest change is replacing Google Assistant with the new Gemini AI assistant. Gmailify and POP email support will end, pushing users to IMAP. Dark web monitoring is being discontinued, and Android Auto will drop support for older phones (pre-Android 9). Many legacy Assistant voice commands are also being removed. While sideloading apps may face new restrictions, core apps like Maps and Photos remain. Overall, Google is streamlining Android for an AI-focused future, retiring older features in the process.
