16-year-old found shot to death in bathroom of Chipotle restaurant near Temple University in North Philadelphia identified
A 16-year-old boy, Khyon Smith-Tate, was found shot to death inside a Chipotle restaurant near Temple University in Philadelphia on Monday evening. Police say he entered with three other teenagers. After the group used the restrooms, three teens left, and Smith-Tate was later discovered with a gunshot wound to the chest. A shell casing was found in a trash can.
Police know the identities of the three other teens and are not seeking additional suspects. The victim was a student at Imhotep Charter School, which described him as caring and energetic. The shooting has deeply shaken the Temple University community. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
