Google deepens consumer credit push in India with UPI-linked card
Deal Score0
Google has launched a new UPI-linked credit card in India called ‘Flex by Google Pay’, in partnership with Axis Bank. This digital card, built on the RuPay network, aims to expand credit access in a market where digital payments via UPI are popular but credit card penetration remains low. The card offers flexible repayment options, a rewards program, and is managed entirely within the Google Pay app. Google also introduced a ‘Pocket Money’ feature for parents to give children controlled spending access via UPI, and new tools for small businesses on its platform. This move intensifies competition in India’s growing co-branded credit card market.
